Muse & Meander

Shaping a Genesis week from the chaos of my life

My Novel

My nephew drew this picture of a 360 skateboard trick. It was the image I held in mind as I wrote Hannah’s story.

Working title:  Griptape

Fifteen-year-old Hannah Montgomery had one thing on her mind: she’s  going to be a chef. But when her brother Quinn dies by suicide, Hannah’s entire world shifts. Suspended from school, she begins to face not only her own emotions but how others handle grief as well. As if that isn’t enough, her best friend betrays her, and her mother is getting remarried and importing a new brother. Hannah decides to focus on the  Silver Blade, an annual cooking competition that she desperately wants to win in honour of her brother. When that is over, Hannah faces a new challenge, one that tests every bit of her courage.  Through it all, Hannah must decide if Quinn’s suicide will also be the death of her.
