Shaping a Genesis week from the chaos of my life

Overcoming Depression

Merciful ScarLast week, I featured my friend Nancy Rue in an author spotlight, promoting The Merciful Scar, her latest book with Rebecca St. James.  Earlier this month, Carrie Fancett Pagels also interviewed Nancy.  This interview touched more on some of Nancy’s personal experiences with depression.

I encourage you to head over to Overcoming with God  to read the entire transcript.

I too have struggled with depression, but, thankfully have it under control. I think the problem with other people is, if they don’t see a cast or bruises for anything visual, they can’t comprehend the situation. Only until one experiences depression can they truly say they understand.

This is true, Gail. It is largely a hidden illness, but in Canada there is less of a stigma. Now the problem lies in making sure everyone–especially young people–who ask for help can get it. We still have work to do. For what it’s worth, I’m glad you’re around. You have one of the best smiles!
