Shaping a Genesis week from the chaos of my life

Teen Suicide Prevention

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day.  One of my best friends died in 2007, and my nephew died in 2010. Both were victims of suicide.

I can tell you, it hurts like crazy to be left behind.  There’s a lot of grief, a lot of pain, and whole lot of “why didn’t I see it coming?”.  It’s hard to get over the shame, even though there’s no reason to be ashamed. People die by suicide, far too many people.

But it’s never about wanting to die. It’s always about wanting to escape the pain.  If you are in that situation, please click here for resources that may be able to help you.

This video is excellent.  Teens and parents of teens should watch it. When you’re done, watch it again. It may well be the most important one you watch this year.

Because, we can make a difference if we talk about it.

I’m not sure anything IS more important in our lives with teens.

No, not with teens. And not with adults. Not with anyone.
