Muse & Meander

Shaping a Genesis week from the chaos of my life

“It’s funny, the things we decide are worth something”

She takes a diamond out of the small bag and holds it next to her ring finger.

“Looks good on you,” he says.

She returns the stone to the bag. “It’s funny, the things we decide are worth something.”

Tony and Ziva, NCIS ‘Berlin’, Season 10, Episode 21

I’ve been watching the construction of a  new building not far from my home. It seems to me  this is the third or fourth such building in my city within the last year, apparently a new trend in real estate.

The company’s website confirms there are already 8 locations, and another dozen are planned. Quite the places too — fully air-conditioned and humidity controlled, with 9 foot ceilings, lots of high-tech security features,  a mail room, even meeting rooms in case there’s not enough space in your unit.

Sound like a place you’d like to live? Great, they offer  month-to-month leases.  Even better, they have trucks you can borrow to help move your boxes.

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention — these are self-storage units, buildings to house your stuff.  Not you.  Just your stuff.

Does anyone else see a problem with that?

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21, NIV

Yep, there sure is a problem with that. I desire my treasure to be Jesus and the people He brings across my path.

Let's talk. What can you add to this discussion?
